GREEN TEAS

Green teas are made when tea leaves are withered, fixed, rolled and dried in a way that no oxidation happens to the leaves. Generally you can recognize green tea also by the green colour of the dry leaves, but we at Renegade Tea Estate haven't managed to capture that bright green colour just yet and are still in search of a technique to keep the beauty of green leaves until the end.

Although many people believe that green teas are always bitter, then this is not actually true, while some green teas are naturally astringent, then for other it comes out only as a side effect of brewing tea with too hot water. From our selection the Green Velvet for example is a very smooth and sweet green tea which doesn't get angry even if you leave it to stand in the cup for too long.

Green Velvet

€8,00

The mildest version of our green teas. It’s perfect for all the tea lovers who tend to forget the leaves to steep for too long. The taste is fresh, smooth and vegetal with a sweet aftertaste of mangos. Almost as if someone had secretly added a dash of sugar to your cup. The tea has a fresh yellowish colour and a sweet aroma.

We don’t know yet if it was the spring or something in the production process, but those leaves really did feel like velvet under our fingers while we untangled the rolled leaves. Now we are thrilled to share this velvet sensation in the form of this tea!

A light and crispy green tea. The taste is fresh and grassy with a little astringency at the end. Don't forget it to steep for too long or it will surprise you with a strong kick!

This green tea reminds us of a sunny day in Opurchkheti- sitting on a hill, looking at the mountains, breathing the fresh air infused with the smell of acacias and listening to the cowbells. Wait a minute, are they eating our tea again?

Renegade Life

This tea reminds us of our life as tea farmers - sweetness accompanied by occasional hints of sour notes. It's a very light and mild green tea, even resembling some stronger, more bodied white teas.

To get the real character out, we recommend experimenting with higher temperature water.

Renegade Life was a test to make a pan-fried green tea, but without appropriate equipment for pan-frying, we tried to make a small batch in the "tumble dryer" of ours. It didn't really come out as we expected, but it's still an interesting tea to enjoy!

Go Nuts

€8,50

Go Nuts is a special batch of Tulip Garden from Rioni Estate, one of the results of our very first harvests from Rioni. Although done by the same recipe, this tea came out quite differently. Was it because of the unique taste from Rioni Estate or something else, we haven't figured out yet. But it did give a nice taste of cookies and roasted nuts to the tea.

Green tea is not the traditional tea in Georgia. Although approximately 150 000 tons of tea was produced during the heydays of the Georgian tea industry, all of it was almost exclusively black tea. We believe that the tea plants grown on lands that have been free of chemicals for nearly 30 years, make also a great basis for high-quality organic green tea. Combining chemical-free farming and modern techniques of processing, we try to bring out the uniqueness of Georgian green tea.
